Who we are and a bit of history

The story of Hesk

Hesk

Hesk is help desk software built with three things in mind: simplicity, flexibility, and security. No bureaucracy, no steep learning curve, and no fancy features that no one really uses.

A Bit of History

Hesk was born in 2005. The founder, Klemen Stirn, was searching for simple, free help desk software that just works, but couldn't find one.

On one hand, there were complex and expensive solutions available that were a complete overkill for his needs (and budget). On the other hand, there was no really useful free solution around.

Klemen decided to create a help desk from scratch and share it with the world (be gentle, this was in 2005 😅):

Over 1,000,000 people downloaded Hesk since, and thousands around the world use it daily—from individuals, businesses, and educational institutions to government agencies.

Built by People Who Care

We work on Hesk because we like to, not because we have to.

Many people helped shape Hesk over the years. Passionate developers such as

  • Mike Koch (author of popular "Mods for Hesk 2"),
  • Andraz Vene (CSS/JS wizard),
  • Pritesh Vora (developer and tester)...

... are just a few who worked long hours together with Klemen to make Hesk useful, stable, and affordable.

A special thanks from Hesk goes to SysAid. They supported Hesk development from 2011 through 2025, helping keep Hesk actively developed, supported, and free for thousands of people worldwide.

Independent by Choice

Today, Hesk is operated by StyledWeb d.o.o. (Ltd/LLC).

As a 100% privately owned company founded by the original Hesk author, we don't have to please any shareholders, investors, or Wall Street analysts; our focus is entirely on our users.

We know many of our clients by their first name and provide personal care and attention unlike any you can get from a large enterprise.

Our Mission

Our goal is to help businesses and organizations become effective at supporting their users, customers, and partners. We do it by developing surprisingly simple, user-friendly, and FREE help desk software.
